The Housing First Apartments Program was initiated in June 2007, providing scattered site apartments for previously chronically homeless adults. New Hope Housing manages the apartment leases or owns the units used for the program; identifies and places residents; provides drop-in visits to support the stability of the residents in their apartments; and provides referral to needed services in the community. Residents pay 30% of their income in rent.
The program currently serves 17 residents. The program is supported through a Fairfax County CCFP grant, other County support, and private grants, including Capital One Bank and the Lambert Charitable Foundation. Just Home Arlington is a similar housing first program in Arlington County with HUD funding, serving 3-6 adults in 3 housing units. Alexandria Housing First serves thirteen adults in the city of Alexandria. Just Home Fairfax began in 2014 and serves six single adults.
