Milestones and RISE (Reaching Independence through Support & Education) are long-term supportive housing programs for families in which an adult member has a mental or cognitive disability. Ongoing case management and children’s services are provided to support the families and maintain a stable family setting for the children. Residents pay 30% of income in rent.
Milestones currently serves nine families, and RISE serves six families. Both programs receive partial support through HUD funding, supplemented by private support from the community, including grants from Capital One and the Fund for Children, Youth and Families at The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region.
