Childcare Provider: Next Steps Family Programs:
Location: Next Steps Family Programs- 8796-D Sacremento Drive. Alexandria, VA 22309
Times Needed: Tuesdays. Thursdays, and Fridays.
Childcare is needed at our Next Steps Family Programs during the Employment and Education Resource Center (EERC) hours. Children’s ages vary.
Winter Shelter Administrative Assistant:
Location: Eleanor U. Kennedy Shelter- 9155 Richmond Highway Fort Belvoir, VA 22060
Times Needed: M-F 9:00-3:00 beginning Oct. 20 (At least 1/week commitment)
- Screen phone calls for individuals seeking shelter
- Assist front desk staff with intake procedures including assembling intake packets, filing, copying
- Respond to walk-ins and current shelter residents with excellent customer service and respect.
Out Of Poverty Co-Facilitator
We are seeking a friendly speaker and presenter to assist a staff member with our transformational program “Out Of Poverty” at our Next Steps Family Shelter ( 8796-D Sacramento Dr. Alexandria, VA 22309) This program is once-a-week for 12 weeks and helps foster mental, emotional, and behavioral changes necessary to help our residents build positive futures. Volunteers are needed immediately for Monday evenings from 6:15 pm to 8:30 pm from now until November 17th. Must be able to commit to each week.
Mondloch House Meal Provider
Individuals or groups are needed to provide a meal for 10 once a month at Mondloch House. This is a “drop off” meal–can be as simple as ordering pizza! Home cooking welcome, too! We ask that you commit to at least once per month. Current Openings include:
Employment and Education Resource Center Monitor
Individuals are needed to assist residents with online job searches, job applications, and housing searches in the Employment and Education Resource Center (EERC) at the Kennedy Shelter, Next Steps Family programs, and Alexandria Community Shelter. Eleanor U. Kennedy Shelter Meal Providers:
Groups are welcome to prepare and serve meals at the Kennedy Shelter for Adults. Groups are asked to purchase all ingredients for the meal and prepare it at the shelter. This is an adults ONLY opportunity–no one under 18 is permitted on the property. Kennedy provides shelter for 50-75 residents depending on the season.
